The Greater Game is based on 'They Took The Lead' By Stephen Jenkins and tells the story of the footballers of Clapton Orient who fought in the Great War en Masse, three of whom never returned from France. Originally The Greater Game went out as a one night showcase at Leyton Orients Matchroom Stadium. A sell out crowd which included many Orient fans and family members of the fallen heroes gave a standing ovation, from which LAPA knew that had to take the project further.
Directed by Tilly Vosburgh LAPA produced an industry reading at The Pleasance starring Danny Mays, Neil Dudgeon, Tom Brooke and Samuel Edward Cooke before the show went out for a full run at The Southwark Playhouse starring Nick Hancock, and Eastenders duo Charlie Clements and Danny Walters. Sponsored by The Royal British Legion and the PFA The Greater Game was a hit with the audiences and LAPA is pleased to announce that The Greater Game is set for a return in late 2018.
